About the Hike

Johnston Canyon Ice Walk to the Lower and Upper Falls
Highly trafficked route covered in ice and snow. Cleats, crampons, spikes/poles are recommended. This hike is tentatively booked, weather and road conditions permitting.
Distance: 5.4 KM
Elevation Gain: 236 m
Meeting Point: 9:00 am @ Petro-Canada Gas Station & Petro-Pass Truck Stop
Drive: 1h20m each way
Note: Will need enough volunteers to drive everyone out there and each passenger will pay $10 cash to the driver for gas on the day of the hike.
Please dress for changing weather conditions and bring plenty of layers. Bring extra gloves, mitts, hats etc. We will be gone most of the day so food, snacks, and water are essential.
A fixed return time cannot be set because it depends on how long the hike takes. Spikes are not required but VERY highly recommended. They can be rented from various locations in Calgary prior to the event date.
